"Rain" is one of the first songs I ever wrote, back in the late 1990s. It was the first of my songs to make it into the setlist of the band I was playing in at the time. I wrote it as a way to process the loss of a family member, and even
Rain
He cant sleep when doors are closed
And when the rain covers his nose
He dreams about the end of fears
Reality brings raining tears
He cant sleep when his girl cries
And when he laughs, he hides inside
And I cant explain
What he saw in the rain
He remembers all his luck
That heaven gives when heaven wants
Hes a dreamer but cant feel
The rain thats falling on his knees
He looks up and shuts the door
Doesnt want to live anymore
And I dont know why
Rain is falling from the sky
Refrain
Rain is falling, falling from the sky
Rain is falling, falling from the sky
Rain is falling, falling from the sky
Rain is falling down from the sky
He looks up into the sky
Sees the birds and sees them fly
He doesnt breathe in steady time
Hes holding on, then breathing blind
He remembers all his life
Thinks that its no paradise
And I cant explain
What he saw in the rain
And he just falls out of luck
He is falling on his knees
He thinks back to his life
He just looks for heavens guide
He goes onto the floor
Takes his gun, he shoots, he falls
And I dont know why
Rain is falling from the sky
Refrain
Rain is falling, falling from the sky
Rain is falling, falling from the sky
Rain is falling, falling from the sky
Rain is falling down from the sky
Then he looks back again
Sees a world thats full of rain
Takes the gun against his head
Closes eyes and fires again
He doesnt want to live anymore
Fires the gun, he falls once more
And I cant explain
Rain cries tears in his name
